Where's the best place to buy packing supplies?
I'm going to be moving in 6 weeks & was wondering where the best place to purchase packing supplies would be. We're going to have to rent a storage unit for a few months also. Will I get ripped off if I purchase boxes, etc. from moving companies and/or storage unit facilities?

- Get free boxes from walmart or any other department store. Just call and ask them to hold them for you.
- you can go to grocery store and ask for boxes or if you know someone that works in a restrant they can give you some.
- if you want brand-new cardboard boxes, you can get them from the storage facilities (they have to have them). Otherwise, you can probably get free boxes from a local grocery store. These stores receive shipments in boxes all the time. They basically just throw them out. If you talk to the right person, they will be able to help you get some clean and sturdy boxes.
- Don't buy boxes, grocery stores, liquor stores, department stores, auto body shops, etc. will be happy to keep them out of their garbage bins. Call ahead and ask to pick up boxes. Be true to your word and they will continue to save boxes for you until you are packed for the move.
- I gotten them from uhaul. They have package deals. You pay for it but the boxes are thick cardboard and you can stack them and they won't crush. If you get free used boxes many places cut the top of and you can't close or stack them. Another problem, is they are usual thinner card board because the merchandise is already backed and they don't rely on the boxes to stand up for months of storage. Save your self the head ache, don't go cheap. Boxes are cheaper than buying new stuff.
